About the Author

Susan Davis-Morales, MJ

Susan Davis-Morales is the unapologetic force behind Be You. Always.: The Colorful Path from Breakdown to Peace, a trauma-informed memoir that pairs raw personal truth with psychological clarity. Her writing unravels the myths we’re conditioned to believe about strength, sanity, resilience, and recovery—and rebuilds them through lived experience, neuroscience, and unfiltered human honesty.
A survivor of profound childhood trauma, medical collapse, and bipolar disorder, Susan rebuilt her life from the soul outward. She brings the rare combination of emotional depth, academic precision, and sovereign self-authority that readers feel immediately—and remember permanently.
She holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Labor & Employment Law from Tulane University Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Psychology from Arizona State University, grounding her storytelling in both legal insight and human-behavior expertise. Her legal training informs the precision, insight, and psychological depth of her narrative work.

Professionally, Susan is a high-level HR and employment-law consultant known for shattering outdated systems. From bias-breaking hiring practices to trauma-informed workforce policy, she has earned a reputation for being the expert organizations call when they need truth, clarity, and a leader who cannot be intimidated. Her work has contributed to six-figure employment settlements, policy overhauls, and culture transformations across multiple sectors.

Her philosophy is simple: people are powerful when they stop apologizing for existing—a truth that fuels her writing, her consulting, and her life.

Beyond the page and the law, Susan is also the creator of Be You Always Tie Dye Shop, where her ethos of living boldly and in full color becomes wearable art. Her handcrafted pieces reflect the same message her memoir champions: authenticity is not a luxury—it's a mandate.

Today, Susan is building a full memoir series, a companion trauma-education workbook, and a revised humor-infused edition of The Psychotropic Diet, all rooted in the same sovereign principle:
You don’t break to become less. You break open to become more.

“I thought this wasn’t my kind of book — and I could not put it down.”
“The story is so real. The neuro-research is woven through the chapters, and the author’s raw honesty makes the reader feel like they’re sitting with a friend. The rise from trauma to self-worth is powerful. By the end, I felt understood — and healed.”
M. Danowski, MSW
Be You. Always. is not a tidy memoir. It is a field guide to surviving what should’ve broken you, reclaiming what they told you to abandon, and laughing—loudly—somewhere in the middle of the wreckage. If you’re looking for something polished and pleasant, this probably isn’t it. But if you're ready for the kind of truth that startles you into remembering yourself, you’re holding the right book.
Survivor Testimonial
This is the most unique book I’ve ever read. The story is … so real. The neuro-research is woven through the chapters and the author even put little notes before some of the scenes to give the reader a head’s up. I related to so much in the book. It’s a book every survivor should read!

On the Horizon
The next major release will be The Path to Sovereignty, Book Two in the Be You. Always. series.
Where the first memoir charted the path from collapse to clarity, The Path to Sovereignty picks up from the moment a survivor realizes she is no longer simply surviving. This book examines the evolution of boundaries, personal power, emotional intelligence, identity rebuilding, and the quiet, stunning moments when a person stops seeking permission to exist. Written with the same raw honesty and grounded psychological insight as the first book, it explores what it truly means to reclaim the inner throne and live life on one’s own terms.

Also underway is the revised edition of The Psychotropic Diet, now reimagined as The Psychotropic Diet: A Humorous Survival Guide to Bipolar Disorder. This new edition brings a parody-infused, sharply honest perspective to Bipolar I disorder—written from the other side of recovery. Blending humor, lived experience, psychiatric culture satire, and unexpected emotional clarity, it offers a witty but compassionate look at the chaos, crash, medication rollercoasters, and soul-stretching growth that come with healing. It is mental health with a punchline and a point.

To complement the memoir series, Susan is developing the Be You. Always. Companion Workbook, a guided reflective experience for readers seeking deeper personal integration. Combining narrative prompts, trauma-informed education, grounding exercises, and self-inquiry frameworks, the workbook leads readers through their own transformational process with the same mixture of empathy, intelligence, and sovereignty that defines her writing.

Together, these forthcoming works expand Susan’s mission: to speak truth without apology, illuminate the lived realities of trauma and recovery, and help others reclaim their name, their voice, and their power. Each project holds a distinct purpose, yet all share a single heartbeat—the unwavering belief that becoming yourself is not only possible but necessary.
